Mugosa had a great game.
Incheon United defeated Daegu FC 3-1 in the 26th round of the Hana One Q K League 1 2023 at the Incheon Football Stadium on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. With the win, Incheon jumped to seventh place with nine wins, nine draws and eight losses (36 points) and completed a three-game home winning streak following a 1-0 win against Gangwon FC and a 2-0 win against Daejeon Hana Citizen. They are just two points behind fourth-place FC Seoul (38).
Mugosa started for the second straight game against Jeonbuk Hyundai, and he was at home at the Incheon Football Stadium. Mugosa formed a duo with Jerso and led the attack with ball possession and link-up play up front. Even though he had just joined the team, it was noticeable how seamlessly they worked together.
Then he scored his first goal in the K League after 417 days. In the 23rd minute, Delbridge’s header from the Daegu half found its way into the penalty box. After winning a contest with a defender, Gerso slipped it to his left foot. Mugosa immediately responded with an exquisite right-footed shot, which deflected off the goalkeeper’s hands and into the net. Mugosa’s role lasted until the 23rd minute of the second half. He was replaced by Chun Sung-hoon and finished off the game in Daegu to the applause of the home fans. It was by far the best performance of the day.
After the game, Mugosa was named the man of the match. Mugosa said, “I prepared more specially for this home game. Many people have already told me that Incheon has become a good team and has made a lot of progress, so I prepared a lot to fulfill those words,” said Mugosa.
“We are now a team that can score goals, and we have the defense to back it up, so we can win,” he added.
Q. How did you feel about the game?
A. “It was a great game, and I’m happy to have a goal and an assist, especially in my first home game since coming back. It’s a great night for the team and the fans. It was a team effort, so I want to thank my teammates and coaches. I also want to thank the people who believed in me and the home fans. It was a night that reminded me that I love this place.”
Q. You had a week to prepare for the game after Jeonbuk. How did you feel after scoring?
A. “The last game against Jeonbuk was very difficult. It rained a lot, it was a combative, fighting game, but at the same time it was a painful game. I was not happy because we lost the game. That’s why we prepared more specially for this home game. I already told a lot of people that Incheon has become a good team and that we’ve made a lot of progress, so I prepared a lot to fulfill those words. I can’t say that I’m in perfect shape.
