Romelu Lukaku has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia, choosing to stay in European soccer.
The Chelsea striker spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Inter Milan, where he made it clear that he loved the Nerazzurri more than Chelsea. Lukaku wanted to stay with the Nerazzurri for the next season, but it was Saudi Arabia who made him a new offer.
The Saudi league, which has been spending a lot of money in recent years to acquire the best players on the European stage, chose Lukaku as a target and presented him with a huge offer.
Chelsea, who wanted to sell Lukaku, responded by offering him to the Saudi league along with N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyessi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
However, Lukaku’s choice remained in Europe – Inter Milan – and reports emerged that he had rejected the Saudi offer.
“Lukaku has decided to stay in Europe despite receiving an important offer from the Saudis,” European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano wrote on his social media accounts on Monday (July 19).
“Lukaku thanked the Saudis for their efforts, but he is not yet ready to leave European soccer. Inter Milan’s decision is crucial and there is no agreement with Chelsea yet,” he said, adding that Lukaku’s next move will depend on Inter’s decision.
Inter had already received an offer from 메이저놀이터 Chelsea for Lukaku and Koulibaly in exchange for Andre Onana ahead of the summer transfer window, but the Nerazzurri had already rejected it once before.
Chelsea are reportedly preparing to hold further talks to sign Lukaku on loan after the deal fell through, but with the Blues needing to sort out their finances after investing heavily in the past year, it’s more important for them to get the money they need to sell Lukaku.
After a plan to sell Lukaku to the Saudi Arabian league failed, Chelsea were faced with the dilemma of whether to keep the high-priced player and trust him once again, or let him go on loan to Inter Milan on the cheap.
Many soccer fans will be interested to see if Lukaku’s unrequited love for Inter Milan will result in him joining the team again this season.
