A ‘monster pitcher’ meets a ‘monster dreamer’.
On July 10 (KST), Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Shim Jun-seok revealed on his social media that he had met Ryu Hyun-jin (TOR).
Sim reportedly visited Ryu’s rehabilitation game that day. Ryu started the Single-A game at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida, and pitched four scoreless innings.

He shared a photo with Ryu Hyun-jin and wrote, “Thank you for the dinner. Thank you for the gift, senior!” he wrote. It’s clear that Ryu took great care of his junior, who came to his rehabilitation game.
After undergoing Tommy John surgery last year, Ryu is sweating to return to the major leagues in July. In the final stages of his rehabilitation, he pitched seven innings of one-run ball in two minor league rehabilitation appearances in July. Locally, expectations are high for Ryu’s second-half performance.
Meanwhile, Shim Jun-seok, who joined Pittsburgh this year, has made two appearances in the Rookie League, pitching 5.1 innings with one run and a 1.69 ERA.
