Lee Kang-in is close to joining the Asian Games team. Leading French media outlets and journalists have reported that Lee Kang-in’s participation in the Asian Games has been approved by his club.
“Lee Kang-in has received permission from PSG to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games,” French media outlet L’Equipe reported on Friday (June 15).
“Lee Kang-in has been at the center of controversy in his home country of South Korea recently, and he will finally play in the Asian Games. He received permission from PSG on Thursday. He will be traveling to China in the next few hours,” said Lee, who has been cleared to play in the Asian Games.
“It was decided through a conversation between the player, his agent and the club. The player’s entourage said, ‘We are grateful to the club for managing the situation in this way and helping the player. Everyone is happy with the outcome,'” he added.
French outlet Le Parisien also confirmed Lee’s departure. “Lee Kang-in is joining the team for the Asian Games. Lee will be absent again for reasons unrelated to his health. The club has agreed that he will participate in the Asian Games with the South Korean national team starting on September 23. At the very least, Lee will miss the UEFA Champions League second leg against Marseille.”
European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the departure on Friday, tweeting on social media, “PSG have approved Lee’s participation in the Asian Games.”
Lee has been the subject of much speculation in recent days about whether he will be selected for the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
