Germany bounces back from a devastating loss to Japan with a win over France.
Germany beat France 2-1 in an exhibition match in Dortmund, Germany, on Wednesday morning (Jan. 13). The victory over France follows a 1-4 loss to Japan on Tuesday that led to the sacking of Flick and the appointment of German soccer federation board member Rudy Pöller. The win over France snapped a three-match losing streak in recent A-matches for Germany.
France’s captain, Mbappe, did not play in the match after complaining of knee pain ahead of the game against Germany. France, who had gone five matches without conceding a goal in A matches this year, saw their winning streak come to an end.
Germany started Muller up front against France, with Navri, Wirz, and Zane leading the attack. Chan and Guindoan formed the midfield, while Henrich, Rudiger, Zulehle, and Tah defended. Stegen was in goal.
France started Griezmann and Mouani up front, with Rabiot, Kamabinga, Chouameni and Coman in the midfield. Hernandez, Saliba, Todibo, and Favard were in charge of the defense, with Maignan in goal.
In the head-to-head matchup, Germany struck first with a goal from Muller just four minutes into the game. Muller rattled the French net with a left-footed finish after trapping Henrich’s pass in the middle of the penalty area after penetrating the left side of the penalty area.
After trailing at halftime, France made a change in the second half, bringing on Thurand and Dembele for Moani and Coman in the 19th minute. Germany brought on Brandt and Habertz for Nabry and Muller in the second half. 스포츠토토
Germany then extended their lead in the 42nd minute when Zane scored. After receiving a pass from Haberz, Zane broke through on the right side of the penalty area before firing a left-footed shot into the French goal.
France fought back, and in the 44th minute, Griezmann converted a penalty kick. Kamabinga was tripped by Zane on the left side of the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Griezmann stepped up to the spot and slotted his left-footed shot into the corner of the German goal. France were unable to find an equalizer and the match ended in Germany’s favor.
