Bayern Munich have given the green light to the signing of Kyle Walker (33, Manchester City).
“Munich have verbally agreed personal terms with Walker,” the British ‘Daily Mail’ reported on Thursday (July 14). The Bavarians will now negotiate a transfer fee with City.”
European transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano added: “Munich has received the green light from Walker. The deal hasn’t been finalized yet, and Munich are in talks with City.”
Furthermore, the UK’s Talk Sport reported that “Walker has verbally agreed to join Munich. However, a transfer fee needs to be agreed between the clubs. Munich are preparing a formal offer.”
Walker is a right-back who will go down in English Premier League (EPL) history. He came through the ranks at Sheffield United, before pulling on a Tottenham Hotspur shirt in 2009. He spent his early years on loan, gaining experience, before breaking into the first team and becoming a key player under Mauricio Pochettino. His quick feet were an advantage. He dominated the flanks with his runs up and down the field, and as time went on, he became more dangerous with experience.
Walker moved on in the summer of 2017. He joined Man City for a transfer fee of €52.7 million. Since his move, he’s improved even more. He’s a full-back, but he’s also moved into the center of the field and taken on a role in the buildup. His versatility earned him the trust of Pep Guardiola. After the tactical change, he also played as a right-back in the back three.
He won numerous trophies with City. He won five EPL titles, two English FA Cups, four English Football League Cups (EFL Cup), and two FA Community Shields. And the final piece of the puzzle: the UEFA Champions League (UCL). That’s 14 trophies.
Walker’s contract runs until June 2024. A year before it expires, he was linked to Munich. The Bavarians had a hole to fill after sending back loan signing Joao Cancelo. They planned to fill the void with Walker.

The Bavarians have the better deal in terms of contract length. The Telegraph reported that City were also pushing for a new deal, but were prepared to offer two years. Munich, on the other hand, offered a longer term with a 2+1 year deal.
