Suwon Samsung, a professional soccer team, is facing a recruiting crisis as Oh Hyun-kyu (22), whom he picked as the main player this year, is likely to go to Celtic in Scotland.
Britain’s ‘Sky Sports’ reported on the 23rd that Celtic had agreed to sign Oh Hyun-gyu from Suwon for a transfer fee of 2.5 million pounds (approximately 3.8 billion won). Oh Hyun-gyu also added that the transfer would be completed within a few days as he had completed personal negotiations with Celtic.
Suwon also acknowledged the transfer saying, “We haven’t reached a final agreement yet, but we are discussing the transfer of Oh Hyun-kyu.”
Oh Hyun-gyu, who scored 13 goals (7th place) in the K-League 1 last year, was responsible for a significant share of Suwon’s total goals (44 goals).
Suwon coach Lee Byeong-geun used Oh Hyun-kyu at the forefront last year to release the attack, but this idea has not changed this year. It was the background that Suwon persistently rejected Celtic’s transfer offer.
However, as Suwon virtually approved Oh Hyun-kyu’s transfer, he hastened to find an alternative to fill his void.
In Suwon, if Oh Hyun-kyu leaves for Celtic, there is virtually only one player who will play the front line, Ahn Byung-jun. 메이저놀이터 Ahn Byung-joon, who was the K-League 2 top scorer, lived up to expectations to some extent with seven goals after wearing a Suwon uniform in July of last year.
However, additional recruitment is inevitable as Ahn Byung-jun is a player who needs to be managed due to a knee problem. Both Akosti and Bassani, which Suwon recruited in the transfer market this winter, are players specialized in helping rather than goals. Akosti won the top assists (11 assists) at FC Anyang in the K-League 2 (second division) last year, and Basani is praised for his reckless dribbling.
In the soccer field, it is predicted that Suwon will focus on recruiting foreign players in a situation where there are not many native strikers left in the transfer market. Rumors are circulating that Leonardo (11 goals), who played for Ulsan Hyundai last year, will wear a Suwon uniform.
Leonardo, who belongs to Shandong Taishan in the Chinese Super League, boasts a high ransom, but it may not be a bad choice in that he is already a proven striker. Suwon suffered the pain of failing to recruit foreign strikers last year, including Sebastian Groning, Nicolao, Antonis, and Krupic.
A regional manager who requested anonymity said, “I know that Suwon is promoting the recruitment of foreign players.”
