‘Seo Ho-cheol’s mistake’ was the difference… NC’s defense in the game

The NC Dinos lost the game thanks to an error by shortstop Seo Ho-cheol (26). Seo’s error was the difference in the game.

NC lost 4-8 against the Kiwoom Heroes of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at 6:30 p.m. on April 4 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. With the loss, NC fell into a four-game losing streak and dropped to 36 wins, 1 draw and 35 losses.

On the day, NC and Kiwoom played a tight game. In the top of the first inning, NC opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center field by Kwon Hee-dong with runners on first and third. Jason Martin followed with an RBI single to center field, giving NC a 2-0 lead. Kiwoom would not go down easily. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Kim Joo-hyung followed with a single that dropped in front of the center fielder. Kiwoom made it 1-2.

The problem came in the bottom of the third inning when NC took a 2-1 lead. One out later, Kim Woong-bin reached on an infield single to second base. However, Song Sung-moon flied out to right field. Only one out was needed to end the inning, as right-hander Lee Jun-ho induced Lim Ji-yeol to ground out to third base. That seemed to be the end of the inning. 메이저놀이터

However, third baseman Seo Ho-cheol failed to catch Lim’s grounder. Shortstop Kim Joo-won caught the bouncing ball and tried to force out the runner at second base, but it wasn’t enough, leaving runners on second and third.

Kiwoom then tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single by Lee Ji-young and a push single by Kim Joo-hyung. With two outs, Kim Jun-wan hit a two-run double over the shortstop’s head to make it a 4-2 game. It was all a butterfly effect of Seo’s error. If it wasn’t for the error, the inning would have ended normally, but a fielding error by Lee gave up three runs to NC.

NC was unable to overcome the deficit and lost 4-8 to Kiwoom, dropping their fourth straight game. NC wanted to turn things around in the three-game series against Kiwoom, but a crucial error left them in tears.
